Terms
Plain-language terms for Root
These terms cover Root Workspace, Root Connect, and Root for Codex. They are intentionally direct so the product boundaries, local-data responsibilities, and support expectations stay clear.
Product status
Root Workspace and Root Connect continue to develop. Features may change, move, or be removed as the products improve.
Root for Codex is a free permanent beta. It may change or stop working as Codex, operating systems, or local file permissions change, and continued compatibility is not promised.
Your responsibility for content
You are responsible for the text, links, and project material you store, export, or copy out of Root, including anything you choose to share with AI tools or other services.
Root Workspace and local data
Root Workspace stores its local workspace content in the browser or app storage used by that Root installation. Clearing browser data, deleting a profile or app, resetting a device, or losing access to that storage can remove local content.
You are responsible for keeping exports or other backups of material you do not want to lose. Root does not guarantee data recovery.
Root Connect
Root Connect is an optional synchronization bridge that uses Root files in the Google Drive account you choose to connect. It is not a full backup, file-history, Google account recovery, or guaranteed real-time synchronization service.
You remain responsible for your devices, Google account access, and normal backups. Root does not guarantee uninterrupted Google Drive availability, conflict-free synchronization, or recovery of content that is unavailable from every connected copy.
Root for Codex
Root for Codex is a free, local, skills-only plugin that works with Markdown files you control. It does not require Root Workspace, Root Connect, a Root account, or a Root-hosted server.
The plugin is provided as a permanent beta with no guaranteed support, compatibility, continued availability, or data recovery. Keep your own backups. Disabling or uninstalling the plugin does not delete your local notes.
Provided as-is
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Root Workspace, Root Connect, and Root for Codex are provided as-is and without warranties or guarantees of any kind. Root does not guarantee that a product will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every browser, device, operating system, Google Drive configuration, or Codex version, or fit for every workflow.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Support boundaries
Root support focuses on Root Workspace product issues and Root Connect purchase, restore, connection, and synchronization issues. Support is provided on a reasonable-effort basis and does not include a guaranteed response time, service level, or data-recovery commitment.
Root for Codex documentation and issue reports are best-effort only. See Support for the current practical scope and Privacy for the current data paths.
