Getting Started

Try Root in one small loop.

The fastest way to understand Root is to capture something rough, turn one line into an open task, reuse one snippet, hand off a small packet, and export a backup.

Install

Start on Chrome or iPhone

Use Chrome for the complete desk workspace, or start with the smaller capture-first app on iPhone. Both keep the same core Root workflow; iPhone adds Voice Note and Meeting Transcripts.

To use the same workspace on both devices, set up optional Root Connect and sync devices with your Google Drive. Install help.

First loop

Use the pieces in order

  • Start a Research DraftIn Chrome, select the Root icon and write one rough thought beside the page you are using. The draft saves automatically.
  • Keep a source when it helpsChoose Attach page, or right-click selected text, when the page explains the thought.
  • Choose a destinationSave the draft as a new note and keep writing, or append it to Inbox and begin again with a clear draft.
  • Add one taskWrite a checklist line like - [ ] follow up tomorrow, then open Open Tasks.
  • Shape one itemCreate or edit one normal item so the useful text has a more settled place to live outside Inbox.
  • Save one SnippetSave a reusable prompt, reply, or instruction you expect to paste again.
  • Try Context HandoffChoose a small item or project slice, add a saved prompt if helpful, preview it, then copy only when it looks right.
  • Export a backupOpen Last backup and export a full library copy somewhere outside the browser.

Keep it small

Do not organize too early

Inbox is allowed to be rough. Use Open Tasks for unfinished lines, Snippets for reusable text, and Context Handoff when something needs to leave Root. Tags can come later when a pattern is real.
