Root for Safari on Mac

Research beside Safari.

Keep one automatically saved Research Draft close to the page you are browsing. Capture a page, link, or selected passage when you choose, then continue in the complete Root workspace.

The same Root loop, shaped for Safari

A sidecar when you are researching. A full workspace when you need room.

Safari does not provide Chrome's attached extension-side-panel surface. Root for Safari therefore opens one reusable, narrow companion window beside Safari. It holds the same Research Draft and opens the same complete workspace without injecting a fake sidebar into every website.

1. Keep it close

Open Research Draft

Choose Root in Safari's toolbar to open or focus one slim Research Draft sidecar.

2. Keep the source

Capture deliberately

Add the current page, a link, or selected text through explicit toolbar and context-menu actions.

3. Keep it moving

Save or send to Inbox

Turn the draft into a note, append it to Inbox, or keep shaping it while you browse.

4. See everything

Open the full workspace

Use the complete internal sidebar for notes, Open Tasks, tags, snippets, archive, Trash, and search.

Private by default

Your workspace starts on this Mac.

Local without an account

The Safari workspace works locally without a Root account or a Root-hosted notes service.

Portable by design

Export a normal Root library containing rootpad.json and Markdown notes, then keep a copy outside the browser.

Root Connect is optional

When enabled, Root Connect uses the Root workspace in your own Google Drive to synchronize supported Root apps.

One workspace across Root

Designed to continue across Safari, Chrome, and iPhone.

Root for Safari uses the same portable workspace and synchronization rules as the other Root apps. Cross-app Root Connect support will be released only after sequential, disposable-device testing proves each sync direction and recovery path.

Release status

Built carefully, released with proof.

Source, local builds, signing, Safari enablement, Root Connect testing, App Store review, publication, installation, and owner proof are tracked as separate milestones.
